It'll be Alright.

Lives not lived.

Living Yellow Carpet

I’m living in Ohio.  I have a girlfriend with an apartment with a big living room.  When we’re off work, every day at 7:00 we lay on the carpet listening to Gentle Hour by Yo La Tengo for an hour, just to spend time alone with each other in silence.  She works at a clothing outlet, and I’m working at a grocery store while I attend classes at college.  I don’t know what I’m going to do with my life, but I’m paying off my school bills year to year and simply living.  Muggy village parks, ice cream on Sundays, and Downtown Hartville, OH.

There are some things you can’t do when God calls you into missions; some lives you can’t live.  Sometimes I’m nostalgic for these lives I can’t live.  Sometimes I like to imagine that I’m off there, living it anyway.  I like to imagine that I can call myself up and ask how everything’s going.  I’m there, and also here.  Who knows?  Maybe I am.
